TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal visited to HÜBTUAM

TÜBİTAK Başkanı Prof. Dr. Mandal: “Hitit Üniversitesi’nin ihtisaslaşma alanındaki hedefleri Türkiye’nin hedefiyle aynı”

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan MANDAL, after his visit to Tokat about the works carried out within the scope of "Deneyap Technologies Workshops", Upon the invitation of our Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman ÖZTÜRK, he made observation at the Hitit University Scientific Technical Application and Research Center (HÜBTUAM).

During the HÜBTUAM visit of TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Çorum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi, Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın and our Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk was also accompanied. During the visit, HÜBTÜAM Director Prof. Dr. İrfan Kurtbaş and Project Coordination and Orientation Office Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Seyfi Polat gave a briefing about his units.

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. MANDAL  in his speech, stated that when evaluated in terms of the roles undertaken by universities in the development processes in the world, it was seen that they were competed with different missions to create more value, and that steps were taken to ensure that universities specialize in certain areas and create value in the determined mission area in Turkey since 2015.

Stating that "The aim of all universities, which were established especially after 2005-2006, to be like a METU", Prof. Dr. Mandal said, “It is not a bad thing to be like METU, but it is more correct that these universities compete within their own mission field, not in a league. The main purpose of our newly established universities is to contribute to the city and the region, after the President of the Republic said “There will be a university in every province” during his prime ministry. It is possible to contribute to the region by initiating the change of the region as well as education and training services. Then we can talk about the existence and impact of that university in that region ”.

Reminding that the Regional Development Focused Mission Differentiation and Specialization Project, which was initiated to ensure that universities create more value for their region, Prof. Dr. Mandal noted:

“Each university participates in this project with their own choice and application and they compete. There is a race. After that, the university's competency analysis is made and then it is selected from among the universities. Hitit University is one of the universities that has become a candidate in this way and succeeded. If the area of specialization that we call machinery and manufacturing technologies is only mechanical engineering, if this is the case, it is completely wrong. All units of the university should work together in this field and everyone should believe in this mission. We look at the mission universities separately. We want to lead our mission universities towards excellence. Looking at the area you chose today; Just as Germany has industry 4.0, Turkey's motto is the national technology move and digital transformation, which is centered on machinery and manufacturing, in fact, the goals of Hitit University in the field of specialization are the same as Turkey's target. To maximize the potential of target machinery and manufacturing technologies it has set for itself. The target is related to Turkey's national technology move, it is integrated. "

"50 percent institutional shares for projects within the scope of the mission"

Pointing out that there is a budget allocated by the TÜBİTAK Strategic Budget Directorate within the scope of the specialization process of universities, Prof. Dr. Mandal said, “As TÜBİTAK, at the point of view of this process, we grant 50 percent corporate shares to those supported by TÜBİTAK among the projects it will propose within the scope of mission field for mission universities. Therefore, this is our motivation point in all the projects that the professors will do through TÜBİTAK at the point of "why should I embrace the mission" at our university.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk, President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Stating that he was pleased to introduce HÜBTUAM's working capacity and potential to Mandal, he said, “In addition, we shared the steps we want to take in the future with our President. "I sincerely thank him for the valuable information and experiences he conveyed to us and for his kind visit to our university."
